Voice control
Also known as: Speech input, Dragon, Voice Access
Voice control lets people operate a device by speaking commands instead of using a mouse or keyboard — for example, saying "click Submit".
In plain terms
People with limited hand movement often drive their computer entirely by voice, using tools like Dragon or the built-in Voice Access. They say the visible label of a link or button to activate it, which only works if that visible text matches the control's accessible name.
Why it matters
When a button's visible label and its coded name don't match, a voice user can see the button but can't click it by voice. This is exactly what WCAG 2.5.3 (Label in Name) protects against.
A button reads "Search" but its aria-label is "Submit query" — the voice user says "click Search" and nothing happens.
