Accessibility statement
An accessibility statement is a public page where an organisation explains how accessible its site is, which standard it targets, and how to report problems.
In plain terms
It's an honest status page: which standard you're aiming for (usually WCAG 2.2 AA), what still needs work, and an email or form for users to flag barriers. Some laws — like the EAA and the EU Web Accessibility Directive — require one.
Why it matters
A statement shows you take accessibility seriously and gives disabled users a way to get help. Regulators and courts look for one, and a genuine "known issues" list is far better than pretending everything is perfect.
A bank's statement says it targets WCAG 2.2 AA, lists two PDF forms still being remediated, and gives a dedicated accessibility email.
